= showing the locations of rez temples and their associated bounty (i relaize thats a task, but i'm sure people would love to help)

thunderai,
I know... you're right
And I'd like working much than I can at the moment on MappingOut, but unfortunately I just moved to another city, for a better job and I'm still veeery busy with my new home and job...
Anyways... as soon as I will able to be more organized than how I actually am, I will make lots of updates for sure
Keep on waiting, my friends... the "Wheel of Time" is turning and I'm completely wrapped into its plot... Give just a little more time and I will come back, more present and more productive
May the Light shine on you all!

Cool, an update, and now a site coming? Can't help but think that the site (if only devoted to mapping out and not future projects as well) will rot, just because you've already done a lot with the tool and there's not much you'll be able to add to it. Well, there is, but you've gotten all the big things added in already.
A green item checklist would be cool, I just wish that ANet would release a storage space so you could store greens in there. Only reason I never bothered to collect greens so far is because there's no where to put them all. I doubt it's even possible to hold every single green without darn near filling a full account of character's inventory screens. :S
As always, looking forward to improvements.

Kaolla,
I know the site isn't so useful right now, maybe it could have been if I had done it before .
Anyways, I liked the idea of having an official site, just to give MappingOut the appearance of a "serious" software ... Moreover, I will have something to add for sure: a whole new campaign (or update or upgrade or whichever it's called!), The Eye of the North eheheh.
Indeed, actually I agree with you: it's not so useful. But it's FUNNY to do
May the Light shine on you

By the way... about the "checking my own greens...", since more than one single user has asked for, it's time to develop it! Just one little question...
Did you mean one list for each character (like elites one) or one list for all characters?
Let me know what your choice will be (I actually think one list for all chars should be more practical... but my opinion is not so important )
May the Light shine on you

Either way is fine with me. Probably a lit covering all accounts would be best.
as a side note, I have a new idea you can implement at the same time. A "mods" tab. Each item in the mod is an external txt file with the same format as the other text files, where a user can create their own rez temple listings, or whatever else they would want to do outside of the notes function. One of the columns in the mods text file could be the "icon" type so that the user can define a different icon to use depending on the situation.

For the greens list, I think having an account wide checklist would be fine. Although, I'm sure some people would want some sort of ability to see which character is holding which green. I'm happy just to hear you're considering the option, so I'm not gonna be picky.

so long... I received some feedbacks, even on my own guild forum and everybody prefers an unique green checklist for all the account. So, this is the way I will follow to add this new feature
As usual, thanks to all fo you, my friends

If you've created a character to track, you can just double click the capped skill, mark it as capped, and it will no longer show up on the map.

sykoone is right.
At the moment you can hide bosses only doing one of the following things:
1) Uncheck the marker in the main menu, on the left of the text "Elites"
-> This will hide ALL elite markers in ALL campaigns
2) Keep trace of elites you already captured, by creating your character in MappingOut and marking all elites you got (character window or double click on an elite on the map)
-> this will grant you the possibility of hiding elite you capped, by selecting
the "Not captured by" options in elite menu and choosing the character
in the drop down list on the right
3) Use filter to hide/show only elites you want to!
May the Light protect you

After I posted the comment, I noticed the limit to toon option and it makes the boss square a green shield and a sword. That will work great, now, if we could track green weapons you could make the icon a little different for those and life would be grand. That is until I found something else I wanted!

Here is a green update for anyone who wants it. Update your greens.txt in the prophacies folder. Add the proviced text to the end
Code:
Charr Salvage Kit Charr Bosses Expert Slavage Kit with 5 uses
That will add the new salavage kits to the mapping out application in pre-searing ascalon.

Any possibility of having a check off thing for vanquishing and missions in normal and hard mode?
Im doing all mine by Spreadsheet at the moment and its tedious to make one and update it alongside my best friend "mapping out". This has been an invaluable aid to me getting legendary skill hunter, Thanks again Aylee

I use the notes function and make a note right above the name of the region saying "Hard Mode Completed" and in the actual note i write how many bad guys there was. An actual checklist and the name of the region changing text color would be sweet.

This is true, i used to do the same thunderai, but i tend to switch a lot of things out when i was looking for elites. The greens, collectors and notes all at once cluttered a lot up, so i de-select them to see who I was after.
Either way it does work, but i have notes for vanquishing, shrines and other bits and bobs too...my screen, blech cudnt see the elite i was after... and with just the notes, i see a screen of notes you understand? i have to hover over each one to find out what's what type of thing
Still, I'm grateful for this software. Other stuff died out or wasnt updated at all and this is much more functional. And i tried learning VBasic.....EEEK not for the faint hearted

Hi all!
I read the posts about "vanquishing and missions in normal and hard mode"... really a nice idea. I promise I will think about it. Moreover, I still have to add towns/outposts list and notes... and lots of other stuff
I admit I didn't spend so much time on MappingOut lately, but I'm coming back... really really soon
Meanwhile... may the Light shine on you, my dear friends.

Thats good ot hear. Last night I recreated the entire mapping out database in MySQL and i spent most of the time normalizing the database.
I could make the entire mapping out interface internet ready in probably no time at all now since the database is done.
A PHP version of mapping out could be ready by the end of the week.
This would allow anyone to add locations of anything, submit screenshots of different locations, update boss, skill information, or anything you want. Its your program and all your data. I think an internet based version where its sort of like a wiki would be impressive and very helpfull to many people.
PM me and we can talk about it in more detail if you like, in the mean time your program is awesome. You could call it gwGIS for what I have planed

UPDATE 08-07-2007 (v3.0.3)
Thanks to everyone for your contributions in correcting errors and giving suggestions.
minor updates
- added Varis collectors to Fort Ranik. Before it was only present in Regent Valley (Sabardeyn)
- added conditional informations for Jin, The Purifier (by Thomas)
- added filter by Boss Name for elite list
- fixed all collectors: where two collectors with the same name were shown, one has been added with an addictional caption, with more information to identify the right one
- fixed information of Pehnsed's Voice. Nightfall green (by Tim)
- fixed position of all five bosses in Depth of Madness (by Fulvio)
- fixed green "The 'Windcutter'" showing (Req. 5 Axe Mastery) instead of (Req. 5 Sword Mastery) (by Mythykle Mythryndyr[Fs])
- updated all elites changed in the last ArenaNet update (19th June 2007)
As you can easily see I could only work on small updates, cause I was still a little busy with my "real" works! Anyways, as I promised, I will soon come back on major updates, adding some interesting new features
